Didrik Solli-Tangen, singer (Norway), 11/03/2010

Didrik Solli-Tangen was born 11 June 1987 in Porsgrunn, Telemark county, Norway. Currently he is studying classical music at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo. According to himself, his music experience so far is limited to some local concerts in his home area, and some competitions. In 2010, Didrik was chosen to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'My Heart Is Yours'.

When you cried last time and, if no secret, for what reason?

I cry ever so often. I come from a family where men show their feelings so a teardrop often occurs.

There are some events during our life, when it seems as there is no way out. That could be tragic circumstances or such assessment of them. At that time, what's the thing to do?

Well, I have been very privileged and lucky throughout my life, so begin to think of tragic events is completely hypothetical. I do feel empathy with people who are in difficult circumstances but it feels silly and without respect to put myself in such a place.

Could you please choose any event of last days, weeks or months, that has distressed you? It can be any happening on a local or international scale. How could you comment on it?

Obviously the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile have distressed us all. Seeing that artists in Norway and international act collect money gives me the hope that Bob Geldof's legacy is going to live on.

Living in Norway we pay high taxes, and I pay my taxes gladly because I know that a large percent goes to charities, relief work and less privileged countries.

There's always a new danger watching for humanity in its way, always a new temptation we're ready succumb to. What's the danger of our days? And what's the way to avoid this trap?

Ignorance is the biggest threat towards humanity in todays society. The idea that technology is making the world smaller and leads to a more open society excites me. I hope that this will tear the last walls down and end regimes that breaks the international human laws.

What are the main obstructions to apply humanities principles at our today's life? Could they be solved?

Information spreading rather the lack of it is the main obstruction. I do have hope for mankind and I am generally a positive person which dare to believe that information is going to get through.
