When you cried last time and, if no secret, for what reason? I recently wrapped an indie film called "BearCity". In the story I had the opportunity to fall in love with two incredible people. And to look at life through a different perspective. Filming the movie took me on an emotional roller coaster and led me to investigate aspects of my own life. The last day of filming we had an incredible wrap party at one of the NYC bars in which we'd filmed a few climatic moments for my character. I was sad to say good-bye to that experience. I cried like a baby when I got home that night of the wrap party. Tears of gratitude and of hope.
There are some events during our life, when it seems as there is no way out. That could be tragic circumstances or such assessment of them. At that time, what's the thing to do? So much of the thoughts that lead me down the wrong path aren't based in reality. They're fictional stories based out of fear. And they snowball into a funk like no other. I've had a few landslides in my 42 years so I do all I can to keep a healthy mentality on a day to day basis to keep myself from going down the path of emotional sabotage. I do my best to embrace and acknowledge gratitude throughout my day and try my best to stay present. I look to music, art, theatre, dance to stay inspired in beauty and as my companions during the challenging times. As well as the sweet ones. Death is a part of life. Everything must end. The facts suck. But they're facts. So as I say - "Life's short. Choose laughter."
Could you please choose any event of last days, weeks or months, that has distressed you? It can be any happening on a local or international scale. How could you comment on it? I'm scared of the political divide in America at present. And the lack of true equality for every person. The actions and words of many people who are living in a fear based, non-educated world of spin and misunderstanding are breading hate on a daily basis. And this freaks me out. As does the amount of garbage and waste we perpetuate.
There's always a new danger watching for humanity in its way, always a new temptation we're ready succumb to. What's the danger of our days? And what's the way to avoid this trap? I think ignorance and man's desire for power have been an undying danger which continues to this day. Education, investigation, Self awareness (with a capital "S") and a breaking from traditions (including religion) is imperative. But who am I?
What are the main obstructions to apply humanities principles at our today's life? Could they be solved? I think fear will always be life's main obstruction. Fear of change. Fear of the unknown and fear of the known. I hope one day we embrace everything that makes every person unique. And can stop trying to control others. And judge others. I hope one day we live in a world of total acceptance and appreciation: a world with secular humanistic values and of immense respect. And therefore a world with much less fear.
