Mihai Trăistariu, singer (Romania), 06/06/2009

Mihai Trăistariu is a Romanian pop-dance singer and musician. He has released eighteen singles and eight albums in his native country, as well as two singles and two international albums. Mihai is one of the few male singers in the world with a five-octave voice range.

He represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. His song 'Tornerò' finished 4th with 172 points, and that was the best result for Romanian ESC-participants ever.

When you cried last time and, if no secret, for what reason?

I had a scandal with some magazines in Romania last year. There was a fake article in a newspaper and I had to call them in justice for that reason. It has affected me so much... So I cried all night like a child.

There are some events during our life, when it seems as there is no way out. That could be tragic circumstances or such assessment of them. At that time, what's the thing to do?

My mother died two years ago by a liver cancer. I tried to call every person I knew to find a solution for her. But couldn't save her.

Usually I am a very ambitious person and I have a lot of success in everything I do. But it seems that sometimes nobody can help.

Could you please choose any event of last days, weeks or months, that has distressed you? It can be any happening on a local or international scale. How could you comment on it?

Well, I have a laryngitis for about three weeks. And I'm very upset now, because I can't sing very well. It will dissapear soon. Luckily, I can manage it!

There's always a new danger watching for humanity in its way, always a new temptation we're ready succumb to. What's the danger of our days? And what's the way to avoid this trap?

My first thought is that computers and Internet have become a little dangerous for humanity. Actually I like this kind of danger. I'm a futurist in this regard. At the same time, I know a lot of children who don't do their homework because of the messenger or computer games. People don't read interesting books anymore. They prefer staying all day long in front of computer, just playing or chatting.

I think, this will destroy the culture and will bring closer the robotic times. But anyway, I love this. After all, I read a book every week, so I'm still a little traditionalist. But soon, in 10-20 years, you'll see, there will be no libraries.

Using Internet isn't so bad, of course. But unfortunately, the most of people use it only for fun, not for education or something like this. That's really sad, and it seems we are not able to avoid this. Sooner or later, virtual reality wins.

What are the main obstructions to apply humanities principles at our today's life? Could they be solved?

I think there is really nothing we can do. All the obstructions could be solved by time, and not by us.
