Daniela showed a gift for singing at an early age, appearing in Ana Faria's Jovens Cantores de Lisboa when she was 8. After a brief interregnum, when she discovered an interest in comics and illustration, she went back to live singing and joined the band 'Flor-de-Lis' in 2008. |
When you cried last time and, if no secret, for what reason? To say the truth, I think it was in a movie! Looool I don’t remember quite well when was the last time I cried, maybe because I always do it alone. It was probably because I saw an abandoned animal (a situation that tends to get me really sad), or because sometimes I can’t understand some facts of this crazy world that we live in and which I love sooooo much, despite everything. I think that maybe my real issue is not the reason (everybody has one), but why I do it alone. Well, it’s part of my character, I’m just this way, and I accept it, but I don’t encourage anyone to do so. It’s really good to have someone by our side that can listen to us without making judgments. It can set you free!
There are some events during our life, when it seems as there is no way out. That could be tragic circumstances or such assessment of them. At that time, what's the thing to do? Well, first of all, there is really no universal solution to that kind of problem. It’s real important that people realize so, because it can make them understand that they can have their own way to resolve things, it’s just a matter of finding it with intelligence, balance and respect for themselves and others. No matter how hard it is. But of course, everybody makes mistakes sometimes, because they are lost, it’s natural. In my case, I have a lemma: Things have the importance that you give them. If someone makes something really mean to me, I try to avoid as much as possible to succumb to that kind of trap, but I am the kind of person that don’t give too much attention to what others may say. What doesn’t kill us, make us stronger. The biggest problem is when we regret a lot some mistake, made by us, that could have hurt others, at a point that we become our heaviest judges. In that case I normally try to understand why I made such thing, then I accept and forgive myself and I continue my journey by making the best I can from that day forward. There are two great things about making mistakes: you grow up, and, if your heart and mind are clear, you become much more tolerant. Moral is something really relative. And then, the human being has one of the best capacities: appreciation! When something happens to me, I can always feel the wind, the sun, the sea, the moon; look at the horizon and say: my God! This can be so beautiful! I have the world to see and so many interesting people to meet, so much to grow up! Life is an adventure and we have to take it as a bless, with courage and hope. And of course, always dreaming…
Could you please choose any event of last days, weeks or months, that has distressed you? It can be any happening on a local or international scale. How could you comment on it? There are so many occurrences that most of the people don’t wish! Some are avoidable, some are inevitable, but the fact is that they exist. Well it’s hard to choose one, and even more difficult to take a position sometimes. There’s a lot which I would like to talk about, but, as political and war problems are really delicate, I would prefer to refer the deep danger that our planet is passing in this precise moment. I think people still don’t have the consciousness of what is happening around us, and I include myself, of course. I would also like to appeal to animal issues, which have been the biggest victims (along with the forests). They also have rights, and they can suffer a lot. But I have a lot of faith, and I really think that the new and futures generations will be more sensitive to this kind of problems. And I could never end this answer without also refer that there are still so many abuses of the human rights, that no one of us can imagine! Of course, no one alone can change the world, but we can give a little example and try to change our own world. That could be a beginning!
There's always a new danger watching for humanity in its way, always a new temptation we're ready succumb to. What's the danger of our days? And what's the way to avoid this trap? I think that the cause of the dangers begins with the humanity itself. The best we can do is give to our lives the best that we have. An example: everybody knows that drugs are a real serious problem, and all that many of us can do is to be intelligent enough to not fall for it, or sometimes give a good advice to a friend, but in most of the cases we all feel that there’s nothing we can do to eradicate such global problem. There are many other situations as this one that affects the entire world. One that particularly troubles me, maybe because is a bit more inside of my reality, is when I find myself surrounded by people that doesn’t have any dreams, any objectives, they sit all day working, then they go home to watch television, and in a few years they have stress problems or are even depressed! I wish people would learn that everyone, without exception, can have so much more to give and to receive.
What are the main obstructions to apply humanities principles at our today's life? Could they be solved? Like was said before, there is no magical formula to dissolve problems, and of course, all I can do is to give my humble opinion, when someone asks it to me. If I would have to pick what I think it could be a possible solution or at least, would make this planet a better place (and I repeat that this is also very, very relative, for what is good for me can be not so good for someone else), I would say: TOLERANCE. If everyone could accept and respect what others are, maybe some of the biggest issues of the world wouldn’t be so dangerous, like religion, races, genders, sexuality, environment problems, etc. Of course this is a mirage (for now! We never know), but as I also referred before, when someone changes its own world, it’s a big step for other worlds to start changing too. And we can live so well with ourselves and others! So for me tolerance could be a very good beginning to destroy the obstructions to apply humanities principles.
