Jon Lilygreen is 22 years old and comes from Newport, Wales. He is an exceptional natural talent and excels as both a singer and guitarist. He studied ND Music in the Colleg Gwent, Wales, and graduated last summer. |
When you cried last time and, if no secret, for what reason? Last time I cried was last year, at a funeral. It really hit me, knowing that a friend, who I wish I had got to know more, had passed away before reaching 30. It made me realise that life can be quite short and it's invaluable to make the most of your life and let those around you know who you are, how you are and just live life with a big heart.
There are some events during our life, when it seems as there is no way out. That could be tragic circumstances or such assessment of them. At that time, what's the thing to do? I really know how this feels. I'm totally aware that people have a particular way of dealing with personal problems in a number of ways, some more constructive than others. Personally, I find music to be the best way of dealing with the worst of days. I just chuck some loud music on, from acoustic to metal, and just let the rubbish fall out of my head. Works best with the bands or musicians who you can connect with musically. That works for me :)
Could you please choose any event of last days, weeks or months, that has distressed you? It can be any happening on a local or international scale. How could you comment on it? Definitely the past few weeks. The whole period leading up to the Eurovision heats really worked me up. I was thinking about so many things, like travelling to somewhere I hadn't been before, to knowing that our group would be from the U.K potentially looking to representing Cyprus. We all had a certain cloud hanging over our heads and I was really concious about how we would be seen through the eyes of the public. But at the end of it, we all kind of agreed that the key thing would be to act like normal, be ourselves and try not to over do it. And we managed to win it... So we must be doing something right :)
There's always a new danger watching for humanity in its way, always a new temptation we're ready succumb to. What's the danger of our days? And what's the way to avoid this trap? Keep busy, man! There's so many things that we all think about that are considered wrong in the world, like technology, politics, food, whatever. It's enough to drive a dude a bit crazy! I just grab my guitar and play the guts out of it. Really lose myself in what I like to do. It's natural to be aware of what's happening around us but it's vital that we make the most of the things we love.
What are the main obstructions to apply humanities principles at our today's life? Could they be solved? Ourselves. Sometimes, people fail to act in a more positive and contributing way to themselves or to others. I can see at times that we can be a bit grouchy to each other and it leads to a domino effect. They say something stupid, you say something stupid back. Don't be a douch. Love yo' brother man! Make love, not war :P
