Stephen Meadows, actor (USA), 26/04/2009

Stephen Meadows didn't start acting until he was 34. However now he's well known as the actor of many TV-Series. In 1984-1986, he was cast opposite Robin Wright in NBC's 'Santa Barbara' as Peter Flint. Since that time till the year 1999, there were several lead roles of Stephen in film and television. Nowadays Steve is working as an instructor of design and architecture, he's engaged in design, paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture. In 2005, he worked in Sri Lanka as a volunteer building homes for Tsunami victims.

'Why not grow in many directions?', Stephen says. 'It has always disturbed me that our society in general requests most of us to choose one thing we wish to do for the rest of our lives and then be the best. But aren't we put upon this earth to expand our minds and pass the knowledge to others? It seems that the pursuit of financial success has clouded man's destiny. I think, at this point, I have tried most everything at least once.'

When you cried last time and, if no secret, for what reason?

Sometimes I cry when I realize how fortunate I am.

There are some events during our life, when it seems as there is no way out. That could be tragic circumstances or such assessment of them. At that time, what's the thing to do?

Over the course of my life I have reacted differently to difficult situations. As a youth, I ran away from them. As a young man, I confronted many head-on and without proper consideration of the consequences. Now I try to thoroughly analyze each part of the problem. First, by breaking it down into segments that occur over time and then assigning an individual task for that time frame.

An example might be the death of a loved one and you are in charge of making all the decisions and allocations. If a literal time line is created first, then tasks assigned, somehow the work and decision making process seems to get done. At least it works for me.

Could you please choose any event of last days, weeks or months, that has distressed you? It can be any happening on a local or international scale. How could you comment on it?

It distresses me that our collective world governments can't seem to get their act together. We are all raping the planet's resources and many will be exhausted over the next 100 years because of what we are doing now. Over 25,000 children die every day from starvation. There's something wrong with this picture.

There's always a new danger watching for humanity in its way, always a new temptation we're ready succumb to. What's the danger of our days? And what's the way to avoid this trap?

Greed. Immediate Gratification. It's not a trap, it's unfortunately, Human Nature. We all need to keep it in check and look at the big picture for all of us on this planet.

What are the main obstructions to apply humanities principles at our today's life? Could they be solved?

Education is the largest obstruction. Awareness... Without it, something doesn't exist. Could they be solved? Over time, yes. And with unfortunately, a lot of money.
